Who is for a bit of Spam?

One thing that bothers me and I suppose it probably is bothering loads more people, is that when we are linked to the Web we receive loads of spam email. Some of it pretty criminal. On most the giving away of millions of pounds or dollars is pretty obvious and to say the least, a bit idiotic. I often wondered why not more is done to stop this type of email. I use Thunderbird and that will show the real address from where the email originates from, not just the address the fraudsters tell you to use to reply! A tremendous lot originate from Japan, although the content of the email talks about rich people from Benin or any other African country wanting to give me two million dollars. Yes, from Benin, it used to be called Dahomey, another of those poor African countries. It might be that these emails do originate from Benin but via a Japanese network. It is interesting. No need to say that they end up in the Spam folder and automatically deleted after 2 weeks. Recently I received another rather interesting email. The email address they wanted you to use was an Hotmail address. I have learned one thing in my years of computing – do NOT use Microsoft’s Hotmail. It is pretty unsafe. Besides the email itself originated from Turkey. The subject was one we all know in Britain – big winners of Euro-millions lottery. Now wanting to give away their win. Yep, please queue at the airport in rows of three side by side. And buy a ticket to Turkey. Actually they only wanted us to respond to the email. It is after that the real problems will begin. So, don’t respond! I might be paranoid but with good reason as the monies lost due to fraud is quite astronomical year by year! All due to careless programming, careless attitudes by the massive electronics industry and sheer ineptitude by conglomerations like Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Twitter just to name a few. They all deny it but the reality shows clearly where the faults lie! But we ourselves have to shoulder some of the blame, we should know that there is no free lunch and for the most part others don't just want to give away millions of the greenbacks! They are after our money! Besides all that, it needs investigating how far the interaction between these companies and various governments go in the name of security. In all just another name for a snooper’s charter which is an affront to democracy and personal freedoms. Obviously we are all aware that unscrupulous people also use the Internet but surely the companies that provide such services should do more to safeguard against such use? Presently they do very little if anything at all. The Internet is a great thing but human greed seems to pervade all. Time to right the wrongs!
