Losing trust, revolution follows?

An old wise chap in the distant past said something along the lines of ‘When leaders lose the trust of the people, revolution follows’. An interesting saying in view of the way government performs in Britain. It goes without saying really that we elect governments to lead us. But perhaps it ought to be pointed out that we do not elect governments to dictate to us how we should eat, sleep, speak or think. The problems stems from people who think they know all and insist to impose this on others. Take Human Right lawyers, I have said before ‘What are human rights’? Now before someone throws a load of law books on my lap, explain then why just born babies do not get born with a list of rights in their tiny hands. The point I am trying to make is that no-one is born with rights to live. If there is no care by parents you’re a goner. Rights are made by societies, for the betterment of all. Rights come with responsibilities, if we decide on a right of free speech – as we did some time ago – then all of us including government should seek to care for it to work properly. When elected governments fail to do so or impose their own views on all, things will deteriorate fast.

The problem with immigration is not wanting any immigrants, immigration has always happened, it is not new. People have always travelled in search of a better chance to stay alive. To stay in a more comfortable place. All living things do this. But unbridled immigration is to be avoided if we do not have the means to accommodate the numbers. It is basically the same with other species like antelope. They live happily in a lovely grassy area. Plenty to eat, so numbers rise quickly and soon they literally eat themselves out of their home. On top of that the climate has changed, summer and winter, rain and shine, warm and cold follow each other. So, they up sticks and go off in search of a better place where there is food and shelter. Just so, humans can and do the same! But the problem is that if too many do it, the same situation will occur before long. Viewing this there are three possible solutions, curb numbers in line with support capabilities, don’t allow any immigration or aid those areas from which immigration starts. This is exactly what is not done, neither of the solutions are carried out, the result is an uncontrolled situation, a free-for-all. Even worse, criminality has infiltrated. Governments in such situations defend themselves saying they follow Human Rights rules. But it seems a weak argument as these have been imposed by non-government institutions. In other words, we are following rules we did not vote for. Ah, some would say but our PM was a human rights lawyer in a previous life. Well so he was, but now he is PM and has very different responsibilities. He now needs to look not just at the ‘rights’ of a few but at the ’rights’ of all. Spectacularly he is failing to do so since the present situation has descended into an uncontrollable farce.

It is a shame after the last Conservative shambles we were all looking for better, for change. Perhaps the problem goes much deeper, it may well be the case we need to have a hard look at how the Civil Service operates in this country. But that’s for another time.
