A very hard look at Public Office....
For anyone with eyes and a brain it should be clear our society is undergoing a tremendous change. Let’s put that in perspective. I have mentioned before about what I call the Softly Softly approach. Keep the public happy and quiet and stay in power to become rich. Then on the other hand there is also something happening which counters it. The AI bubble and the climate change. Added to that enormous political mistakes, like Net-Zero, the inability to get to grips with illegal immigration, and the decision to de-industrialise the nation. We ought to ask, how is all that possible, what is at the bottom of all this. Is there a concentrated effort to change our society? If so, to what? There is, again also something which I have mentioned a few times, the drive to a more centralised state? One would say, no we have the devolved system, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland all have their own parliaments. Have they really. Or is it is a way to bring the idea of centralisation to areas which hitherto were difficult to govern from a hub which was more interested in looking after its own small area. We know that as the London hub. The devolved governments are just babies of the main one. They are doing the same, the good and the bad. Exactly the same errors, think of Wales, who thought 20 mile an hour speed limits would work well? They didn't ask the public what they thought about it. Frankly it was the most ludicrous idea of all time. It is just yet another sign of governments centralising power. The main promoter, a Senedd member has now taken his leave. Probably because he couldn’t stand the heat.
Then who decided it was a good idea to open jails; to make the police sit back and check on everyone else’s emails? Then decide whether it is a criminal act to swear and deserves a ten year jail sentence? So what is going on? I have mentioned a few times the very poor standard of politicians but it is not just that, there is a stream of people who want to change the way we live altogether. Slowly and quietly. Perhaps Marx is still alive, well at least his ideology is, because what he promoted and wrote about, is actually occurring. We have politicians who come from ‘common’ backgrounds and somehow end up as millionaires. Some live on country estates. You might say that’s always been the case. Right, but why should that be so? Why should hard working people, yes hard working and paying taxes, fund this extraordinary lifestyle of what can only be called an elite? Let’s look at local examples. Here is Wales, in the RhonddaCynonTaf area we have people that you could call as coming from poor but sound backgrounds. Yet, these when elected bring in their children in plum jobs, have many sidelines, sit on many paid boards, directorships, you name it. You don’t need to look very hard. These people have multiple homes, whatever they seem to do the taxpayer funds it. Their staff, expense accounts, free this and free that. Basically it is an affront. It really needs sorting. Political life should be just another job. No other jobs allowed, no freebies, no gifts.
The system as it is is just asking to taken as a way to get rich. Again, obviously it is not all people who do this but too many seem to do. The funny thing is those who are in these situations seem to have an affiliation, or membership of a grouping called the Fabian Society. This is an ultra left liberal social grouping seemingly determined to transfer this country into a soft communist state. The name of the goal? Total state control over every aspect of life. It might explain some of the policies that are pursued and promoted. Many top politicians, past and present are members of this Society. And like most other such organisations, members look after each other’s interest. They will all and sundry deny that, but who is and recently was, PM and who happens to be Chancellor? Perhaps we need to have a very hard look at what the aims of that society are. But most of all, we, the electorate should take much more care who we elect to public office. Even more so check on their actions, private and public. Simply you will forego privacy when elected. I know, I know, they will tell you they need privacy, for their security. Hogwash. Public office is not a private matter. If you don’t want the type of intrusion don’t stand for election. Simple.
