Eurovision? Binding us together? Eh...
Well, the Eurovision Song Festival has passed. What can you say about it? What I can say and this view is held by many, it is an abysmal show of shouting and performing idiotic movements they call dancing. On top of that as I am British I can also say if we keep sending singers, single or in groups like we seem to do, we will never come to anything but last. There is a remarkable difference between quality of songs and reality. If we contrast songs by some like Adele, Ed Sheeran or even Dua Lipa and contrast that with what we sent then we shouldn’t really have bothered. Virtually the same can be said about most other entries. Some people might say, ‘Oh, he talks because he didn’t win’. Yes, I am British and I want to win! At everything. Including moronic festivals. I think enuf said, what?
It also brings me to the political stand we seem to be taking today. We have had a referendum about whether we wanted in or out of the European Union. A majority voted ‘Out’. Why do we now allow the Prime Minister guide the whole rigmarole into some sort of slow dance back into the reach of voracious Brussels? Again, is this what we voted for? May I say this to the moronic government - If you so desperately want to be back into the fold, set up another referendum. Don’t return piecemeal and think it is not noticeable. If Keir wants Europe so bad why didn’t he perform a song on the Eurovision stage in Basel? I am sure his wailing would guarantee first place.
I am beginning to think all of us here would be better of if we didn’t have a government at all. Come to think of it why do we need a national government? As it is they do not bring anything to the table. Not to say local government is much better. One thing they are all good at is spending money, our money. But mostly not on projects that improve our communal lives. I am beginning to sound like a far-right Reform member but unfortunately for them I am not. But as a Welshman, Cymro in the vernacular, I am a supporter of Independence. Although it is true to say right now we could not really afford it. The economics are not up to scratch. So, as we can see a sizeable conundrum. Pulling us in many different ways. In the end it has to be said we need a government to bind us all together. And that is just the problem, it doesn’t.
