Are we believing democracy works?
Early Saturday morning and just been watching a report about the Skripals, the incredible attempt by the Russian machine to get rid of one of their absconded operatives. It struck me as a blatant attempt to carry out a military operation on foreign soil. What was very visible was the medical services working virtually day and night to save the victims. Some too late to be saved. Another thing I found incredible is the lax attitude we all have about these things. You know something like “Oh, it’s the Russians, what do you expect”, type of thing. I don’t think our political wonders in Westminster have much of an idea what is actually going on. Bar talking about Auntie Peg who has a problem with her gas supplier. All very droll of course but in the meantime the Russians are just merrily dancing the Conga. Everywhere now the Russians seem to have been following a plan that does not need nuclear weapons, they just keep infiltrating areas and people to subvert the very lives right up to government level! This is done by plain graft, money, drugs, poison. It is not just Britain under threat, it is all of western Europe. Even the Poles are under threat (Yes, Poland and the North and South Poles) . Recently the Russians made a deal with India, the details are not very clear but if I was Trump I would certainly start thinking - What am I doing promoting Russia as a decent country that only wants peace? With millions of others, we are saying – man, how deluded can you be? Putin knows very well how to butter up a sandwich and the problem is the sandwich loves being buttered up. An even bigger problem is where the sandwich is being buttered up there are 20 more waiting in the same White Kitchen. Know what I am saying?
The other side of the coin, or rather the other side of the world, the sandwiches are thinking all is going explicity well. Money is being made and also now are eyeing up possible big deals in mining and all sorts of big export opportunities. MAGA? Yes, will someone tell Keir and his pal Macron what is really going on? Why do you think there is so much illegal immigration? Are they really all economic migrants? Why are we so lax? One of the problems is our own attitudes regarding how we view the world. Let me point out it is NOT such a nice place. Yes, the beaches of Spain are alluring but look at what is happening. We are literally subverting their way of life. Because in the UK we are all dancing thinking life is like Strictly Come Dancing. I know it is a generalisation but basically it forms the basis of truth. The one problem with Democracy is that we can in the end be governed by idiots. People whose brainpower does not go beyond – Oh we need more money, let’s raise some taxes. The population might moan but feel powerless. Democracy needs work, a lot of work to make it successful, it needs people who call a loaf of bread, a loaf of bread and not a hot cross bun. It needs people who are not afraid to be unpopular but can persuade the rest of us to work for the common good. Sometimes it would mean standing up to aggressors. Because if we don’t they will soon come knocking on the door. Or even just kick the door in.
