Arm ourselves, the Russians are coming... I think.

Viewing the deteriorating world situation coupled with the meekly calls by European leaders to ‘de-escalate’, which both Israel and Iran will not adhere to but will increase escalation. You only have to listen to the rhetoric from Iran and the responses from Israel. It is time to declare I am signing up for joining a possible Homeguard. I am too old now to join the Army proper but I have had military training. Having been on national service in an European Army, just across the water. We need to be on our guard, also because of the increased sword rattling by the Russians. Coupled with the idiotic US present policy making and attitude, is a wake-up call of some size. It is strange that after so much time of humans being on the planet in some numbers we are ending up like this, fighting and this time it might spell the end of us. The old research about why increased numbers end up fighting each other seems to be absolutely true. In fact I believe it is genetically inbred. That rat/mice...

Politicians are good or...bad?

It was reported a day or so ago that some Senedd (the Welsh government) members felt that social media is used to viciously attack politicians. Even on a daily base. In other words, continuously. Good Lord, a politician complaining about being attacked? That is unheard of, never happened before. What is going on? Where is the Army, can we send the Royal Marines? Well, Trumpy baby can in the US, why not here? We must safeguard our valued politicians, they do such a valued good job it must be protected at all costs. Yes, yes! Well, it makes you wonder what type of politician we have today. Obviously they do not like it up ‘m, although they do not mind putting the hot poker up others. Miss Rayner didn’t mind calling the other side ‘scum’. There again Welsh politicians, at least some of them, are a different breed, coming from the inner regions where you see no-one for years the only thing they know about is sheep. Sheep listen, say nothing, and are easy to herd. So the poor dabs are not ...

Budget? What budget...

D on’t we all feel great now today after the spending review by national accountant Reeves? Personally we should all be impressed that bank tellers know so much about national accounts. Completely ignoring debt levels and obfuscating how money is spent. Bellowing from the dispatch box how good it all will be. Defence spending? No problem, we will include spies, hide payments to foreign aid as defence costs, include embassy costs, include the military housing renewals and upkeep. Wonderful, we spend 3% on defence. Listening, Mr POTUS? And oh, by the way, we will build 12 nuclear submarines. Yes, Keir phoned me at 3am in the morning, he couldn’t sleep, said he had a nightmare about dolphins we had to do something about them. Stop worrying Mr President we are doing our bit, we are an island and safe. Russians don’t like water. What you mean, drones, what are those?  Dear oh dear, how deep we have sunk. The nation that kick started the world we live in today. Railways, penicillin, an...

Something a bit more brainy...

The world of science is an absolute fascinating world. New things, new ideas happen all the time. Old theories get banished, new theories spring up. For most people the word Quantum is alike to ‘acrabadabra’ or perhaps ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’. Yet, today it has become the ‘In’ word. An article in the Independent newspaper about new research what the Big Bang is or maybe was. Usually described as the ‘Explosive birth of the Universe’, it might turn out not particularly true at all. Personally I have believed there was no beginning and there is by association of that word no end either. This newer research seems to point out that view. Basically saying we are the result of an ‘evaporation’ of a black hole. Black holes are not just an infinite point in space from which there is no escape. Black holes apparently do radiate gamma rays or even perhaps more. Humans are always looking for the easy answers. The question of ‘Where do we come from’, and ‘I had a beginning so everythi...

Is government criminally negligent? Well….

I t is unbelievable how proper elected governments actually behave. Yes, behave is the correct word because governing is not what they do. The immigrants problem is nearing flashpoint. But they do not care. The Home Secretary is more interested in upping her money and the Prime Minister is more concerned h i s hair looks good but never does. Shambolic is the word. When national newspapers have been treating the immigrant problem softly softly for some time, it is now becoming clear what excessive immigration, illegal immigration does to communities. The money we pay for this abomination is absolutely eye-watering and rising! We pay half a billion to the French police just to stand and watch immigrants going into the infernal dinghies to make sure no harm befalls them. In fact I reckon some of the police cheer the immigrants on their way. Then when the imm i grants arrive and they do in their thousands every year, we put them up in swanky hotels with free meals, free medical support, ...

Submarines? Yeah, I've got 12 ....

O ne might think of a man like Jeremy Clarkson as a bit of an idiot. Me, I’m not one of them. In fact although I find his antics of running a farm a bit off the mark it always seems to work out OK as he gets the right people to do the jobs for him. But there is more to Jeremy than you might think, his mind is sharp and he tends to say what most people think but never would say for fear of being deported to Scotland. His right on the spot remarks in his newspaper article tells the story of how this country is run by people who have as much brainpower as a gnat. In a funny way he pointed out that when he dies the government will take possession of his farm, plaster it with solar panels and social housing to house hard-working immigrants. He forgot to say earning salaries and thousands of benefits paid for by taxes levied on real hard working families. It is said now that London town people get more in benefits than the rest of the country. In his hilarious but sad article he pointed out ...

Watch out, the taxman cometh!

I t’s that time of year when the taxman wakes up. What I find disconcerting is the way people save and on some savings, say Bank interest for instance or savings put away in a Bond of some sort then are taxed at 20%. Although he taxman allows a paltry £1,000 free. So, a person puts hard-earned money away, perhaps over a life-time and then some of it get taxed! Of course there are savings systems that are free of tax and one would be well advised to take those. But it is not always convenient or possible. One can talk, even swear, about taxation but a valid question would be, what is done with all that tax? Does a country, it’s chosen leadership, spend it wisely? It ought to be obvious that taxation is a necessity, simply because as a society we need certain things. That is to say all of the people that live, resid ing in a nation. We need a certain amount of social care, we need to protect ourselves with an army and we need a number of people who lead the system and projects its cour...
