London, that great cesspool into which all the loungers and idlers of the Empire are irresistibly drained.

Not so long ago the UK voted in a new party to govern us all. Wonderful promises, working people would be treated like gods, they would sort out the ‘mess’ left by the previous ‘idiots’ and more. The question now after only a short time is – what happened to this heaven? Well, of course, it never happened. The trouble is ‘political double speak’ has now pervaded all of society. It is a bit like A.I, we don’t really know what is true and what is not. However, believe me when I say, most of it is untrue. Simple obfuscation of reality. The political class do not wish us to know the real state of the nation and believe me, it is not brilliant. How can the politicos be proud of the years of doing absolutely nothing? Yes, it goes across the spectrum. It is easy to talk about things, caged in wonderful words, like a pantomime. Studied appearances, how they stand, how they frown or smile. It is all just so much cr*p. We have became a nation led by third-rate woke artists. The only thing we do hear and often is ‘We need more money – which tax shall we raise, one or two or all of ‘m’? There is absolutely no attempt to right the wrongs, no attempt to properly lead the nation nor change the system to a more affordable one. The government has become so big a colossus we can really no longer pay for it. Despite promises of ‘streamlining’ and making it fit for purpose in the 21st century, it has just become bigger. It’s like a dinosaur, like them it will not last. The only problem is the mess left behind.

If we look around what do we see? The failure of all political systems – across the world and presently we are in danger of wiping ourselves off the map altogether. Russia might well break up, China is posturing, the Middle-East is a tinderbox, Europe is in financial straights. Like all situations these can only go so far before a rectification will happen. That usually means – revolution or war! It will be a sad epitaph of the gravestone of humanity – ‘We tried, yes really but we failed miserably because we just did not try hard enough’.

Locally, life goes on, we will be poorer whatever they say. The signs are clear enough, the system needs more money because there is no will to re-design it. In other words the government, Labour, despite promises are taking the easy road. Soak the blighters. And we are the blighters. Young people, old people, pensioners, all will pay the price for the unbelievable incompetence as displayed.

PS - The title is from Sherlock Holmes - fits wonderfully well!
