Where are we going? You tell....

Like it has been indicated quite a few times – the world is run by either complete morons, or by megalomaniacs. I am not the only one who says this and in any case you only have to listen or see TV news reports. Some would say, ’So what? It has always been like that, look at history’. Sure, quite right but now we are in the 21st century and quite frankly these people that lord it over the rest of us are now shown to be simply digging the communal grave. Their avarice, their untamed greed, their lust for power have put us at the edge of the abyss. Look at the so-called ‘Police agent’ of the world, the United States. Led by someone who should stay in bed but the possibility of someone taking over who quite simply has no idea beyond talking about making ‘America great again’. Like if the rest of America actually cared. Then at another side of the word are two autocratic powers who simply do not feel their respective nations are big enough. Aided in those views based on cloud-cuckoo opinions.

In any case, it doesn’t matter all that much any more because like others who have voiced this, we already have reached the point of no return. The reason why that has been said is simply because generally speaking people are unable to change their behaviour. Perhaps some can but the great majority cannot and will not. Paving over land for roads and housing goes on unabated, oil products will still be needed, food production already interferes with biodiversity. There are reports showing that in the last 50 years 70%+ of species have disappeared from vast areas of the globe. I know it sounds horrific and it is but personally I believe humanity which in all honesty is no more than just another species, has reached its plateau. WE might be intelligent although some would dispute that, but we are not intelligent enough to see the problems that our existence causes to the natural cycle of the planet with its biological life. All need food to live, either through predatory action or ingestion of vegetable matter or even both. If through numbers the food sources become scarce, the entities become weak and diseases will begin to take hold. Or in the case of humans, food production is harmed because of fouling of the biosphere, air and soil. In the end the species are vastly reduced in number and can even become so few that extinction occurs.

I am no scientist but I read widely. The data is there for all to see. It is no secret. So, my question is rather simple – why do our wonderful politicians of all colours not see? And if they do, why not come up with proper plans? The Earth will not be destroyed. It will survive quite nicely and has shown this in the past. Sure, ice caps will melt, a lot will drown, the sea levels will rise by up to 5 or so meters. Those that can will adjust. Others will just lie down and accept their fate. Nature will adjust just the same, trees and plants will rejoice because of the increased CO2 levels and there are vastly reduced numbers of grazers. There is another thing going on, and that is the Sun will become hotter as it grows thanks to diminishing of hydrogen. It will therefore grow in size for a while due to changes in the gravitational balances until that no longer can happen and other more destructive actions take place. Destructive for life on Earth. Maybe it has been so ordained. Maybe it is the end result for all living species. They develop within a niche until that niche can no longer support them. Meaning food production or just food availability. Or even changes within the environment in which they exist. Like the Ice ages, for instance or the increased volcanic actions of the far past. Change is the norm and we too are faced with the same.
