Happy world? Hmmm, I wonder....

If anyone here thinks we are safe in the UK or indeed, safe in the western world, think again. For a start the climate which is worsening will make it almost impossible to live in the drier parts, plus make harvests in cooler climates due to excessive rain much more problematic. Hence, it is predicted that starvation will become common. Coupled with vastly increased human populations, already half the 8.2 billion people live in Asia, necessitating those that can to seek a life in the richer parts of the world. Politics also, that is viewing the autocratic regimes, will make people pack up and seek work and a life somewhere safer. These are not predictions, they are already happening. Nearly a million a year get into the UK bringing the (in)famous boat people.

Through a few experiments in the fifties to the seventies, researcher John Calhoun made efforts to study the effects of population density on behaviour. He provided limitless food, and secluded little apartments. He studied the behaviour of mice to see the effect of how it would develop when due to the plentiful food the population would increase. Due to overcrowding the once ideal living conditions spiralled out of control and fights, and killing ensued. Working with rats between 1958 and 1962, and with mice from 1968 to 1972, Calhoun set up experimental rodent enclosures. He hoped to learn more about how humans might behave in a crowded future. Well, viewing the results of the experiment and the behaviour of humans today, I think it can be assumed that overcrowding will be a problem of some magnitude. In the mega cities already established, the crime rates have increased already, drugs, physical attacks amongst a few more now being common place.

It is not how I would like to view the human race but the results are visible. It is incredibly worrying since our worshipful representatives and other non-elected wonders such as the (hard) labouring Civil servants, do not appear to be aware or even thinking about things like mentioned here above. I would have thought listening to their emanations of how they are going to save the human race prior to the General Election(s) one might have started to see some understanding and action! Now, they would contest what I just said here, obviously they would but the way politicos are performing, both local and world-wide leaves no doubt that things all in are not rosy. The key arguments as I see them would be the Middle-East, great swathes of Africa, the war in Eastern Europe and the general behaviour of the Russian Army. Not to forget the impending trade wars looming because of a newly elected American president.

One of the strangest financial exercises is also being fought out in the US, the ‘voted’ for bonus amount for Elon Musk. Anyone thinking that $58billion is fair? No? Me, neither. It is not so much the amount to one person, for whatever he will use it for – as an aside I wonder how much tax he would have to pay – but the standards set for other high-ranking CEO’s and company owners to want similar excessive bonus structures. Already the pay gap between these leaders of commerce and the ’normal’ population is at the 500 to 1 level.

These are the signs that the world situation is far from healthy, and frankly seems to be aided by elected politicians. Perhaps they have been looking at guys like Putin who does similar things but has no problem getting what he thinks he wants because there are no other people who are looking over his shoulder. Whether they have long memories remains to be seen, but I would continually be looking over my shoulders, just in case someone has taken offense.
