Three years ago an aggressive nation invaded a neighbour on the pretext it needed ‘security’. Whatever security they were thinking of is not very clear but it seems that even today Russia because that's the nation we are talking about, needs for some reason a hundreds of miles wide belt of land around its borders to ‘thwart’ those nasty Europeans who are all members of a military organisation called NATO. Obviously no-one mentions that NATO was set up to ‘thwart’ those ‘nasty’ Russians from invading or even start a nuclear war. So, yes the impasse is right in front of our eyes. This to be named grey belt land. Yet this morning there was shown a BBC news item about the hospital crises. How many older people are in beds but could be at home as long as there was some care. Care at home or care in care homes. I know that sounds odd but care homes are NOT homes, private homes. Anyway, the point here boils down to yet another so-called effort by government to alleviate pressures on society because there are too many homeless or families living in unsuitable accommodation. How about that! The Americans, or rather the American president is selling out Ukraine. After a cosy telephone chat with Putin, it has been decided to throw the Ukraine to the wolves. Russia’s conquests will stay Russian and Zelensky will be declared a criminal. Staring up at the sky one clear night in South Wales, ignoring some of the light pollution in order to see if I could notice the asteroid which was promised could be hitting the Earth, I saw precisely what you are able to see on most clear nights. Clear nights in present day South Wales is a bit of an hit and miss affair. Even so, I started thinking it did look endless. There are some uncomfortable truths to be highlighted. The accident in the States with a helicopter flying into a descending aeroplane carrying over 60 people is a case in point. Just have a look at Flightradar24 to see how many aircraft are in the air at any given moment. Apparently 100,000 every day, every hour. Imagine the stresses on flight-crew and more so air traffic controllers. Perhaps it is time to have a real chat about the impact on everything caused by the air travel industry. There are signs that in the States people are using air travel like we do bus trips here. ‘Oh darling, just popping out for a Chinese, be back in an hour or so’.
