More musings...

It is a great time for European politicians to start trying to figure out how they so miserably failed. Failed in their own defense, failed in anticipating the way the US is doing its politics and primarily its views on world power blocks. Don’t tell me it was not known how Trump behaves and what he is about. It is like “Ah, let’s not worry, we will control him”. Yes, and how do you control an unpredictable human being? It is like walking through the African savannah ignoring the lion stalking you. Don’t be surprised if you end up in its stomach.

The situation with Trump is simple, he has the idea of power blocs. He, that is to say the US, is to control the western hemisphere. The American action in Venezuela shows that without doubt. More might follow there. Cuba, Bolivia and possibly Brazil as well. Greenland is a dead duck, the US will almost certainly take it over. It isn’t really about security, it is more about resources. Greenland has rich veins of lithium amongst other metals. Europe will stand by wringing its hands as usual. The main thing as I see it, is that the EU is a past entity. If the US take Greenland both the EU and NATO are history. This will be music in the ears of Russia and Putin but China will be not so sure. China despite the wonderful words does not trust Russia. China needs markets, and the EU, is one of its biggest. So, it will be China opposing the US in the future, hence its incredible military build-up. Trump knows this, and it is his view of influence spheres. But his policies or rather his (in)famous directives will drive a wedge between his once loyal European allies. Chine will continue to gain influence and not just in Europe, Africa and South America are still in its view. The result for the Americans is already on show, a slow withdrawal by European countries of orders for American products. Planes, other weapons and so on. It is a wake-up call also for woke western governments to take food production, defence more seriously. More so adjusting their burgeoning social services budgets downwards. It is a travesty when the UK has a massive part of its population on benefits. It is notable within the 16-35 year old bracket when 20 year old’s are more interested in “Seeing the world” and by doing so inexorably destroying the very things they want to see. Even worse, changing the very society they are ‘visiting’.

A few words about AI, in the main it could be a boon for humanity. But humanity is a flawed entity. It will almost certainly misuse AI inasmuch as it is possible. It is already visible. Fake items abound. Criminality rejoices. It is quite simple, everything humanity does or develops, has two sides. A usable side for its benefit in living, health and so on and a side where these developments are used to defraud or misdirect. It is a very simple state of affairs that has never really changed. Can someone tell our Mr Starmer? He seems to be living in a cosseted world where everything smells of roses and lavender. I listened to his views and could not stop laughing. He really should be standing on the stage of the London Palladium.
