Politics or a comedy show?
American politics is collapsing into an absolute farce. Instead of well-researched details properly obtained and verified we now get off the cuff remarks that bear litle truth to the reality on the ground. What is even worse is the continual kowtowing of European leaders in order to ‘safeguard’ their perceived standing. I remember the ‘Dear Donald’ moment performed by NATO secretary-general Mark Rutte. He was just seconds away from trying to kiss Trump. Hopefully without tongues. But it is the situation today. So, an emboldened Trump who has seen his ‘off-the-cuff’ actions succeed has now started on a serious attempt to acquire Greenland as being part of the United States. That must be one of the silliest mistakes a leader can possibly make. Attacking an ally who is also part of many of the same institutions. NATO in particular. As soon as that came to the Kremlin, they held a champagne party to celebrate the obvious legitimising of their Ukraine invasion. If by any chance WW3 will occur the result if we are still alive, will be to fair and square point the finger at Trump.
I have to say similarities are all to clear with the time before Germany under Nazi rule, invaded the Sudetenland and then Poland. Then western powers too did zilch bar some lovely words. How many times has it got to be said, appeasement does NOT work, and never has. As such guys like Putin and yes Trump as well need taking down. Figuratively speaking. Might does not make it right, even if you can browbeat everyone else. Bullies might win the day but not the end result. Would the US be incredibly happy owning Greenland? They mostly already do, why own something that belongs to someone else when that someone else has already given you all the rights to it? What is the point? I think the point is the standing of a weak US president. A president who needs personal acclamation on a continual basis to ‘feel’ important when basically the man acts deranged. It is like most cowards act. Big in public but when challenged retreat crying. Just observe who surrounds the POTUS, people who continually laud the ‘great’ achievements, putting laurels over the head of the chief praising his acumen whilst lying down in front of him like Buddhist monks. And this is the most powerful nation on earth? It is just a comedy show.
Where from here, well there are only two ways, one is to get rid of the jokers as fast as possible or secondly carry on regardless and ruin the western alliance. That includes NATO. In fact they have already set up an organisation to rival the United Nations. In fact the UN has only itself to blame, a silly talking shop but it still has influence in the world. The best way is not to ignore what the US is up to but actively develop a coherent set of policies and act upon them. Not in a years time but now, immediately. European powers need fast to come to a common understanding and stop arguing between themselves. If Europe is to play a role as a power block it needs a common strategy. A strategy all will subscribe to and act accordingly. It has to be noted that the USA, Russia and China are single nations. Nations with large economies. Europe is fractured, every country is looking first to its own economy and interests. Hungary is even not quite certain it wants the membership. It wants the money but not the responsibilities. Until Europe speaks and acts with one voice it will always be a minor player.
Will it change? My money is on it will not. At least not in my lifetime.
