Who wants to be a sub-postie??

For a considerable time now there has been adverse commentary about politicians. Yes, from me as well. The point of it all has been to show the duplicity, the downright lies or rather hiding the facts of decisions made. A case in point here in the UK is the ongoing calamity that has befallen the sub-postmasters. Where due to a software program developed by Fujitsu it appeared that losses were made by post offices. By all accounts it now seems that was evidently not true. But instead of instigating a thorough research plan to find faults, whether in the software or in consecutive management decisions, it was thought to be correct to legally pursue aforementioned sub-postmasters and force them to repay imagined losses and also to jail the same for fraud. There is now an enquiry going on and we will breathlessly await the verdicts. But as the Post Office is basically a semi-government body why were there no heads rolling? Why did no-one think ‘Hé, why is it that suddenly so many seem to hide money?’ It must not be forgotten that yes,  there will always be some who will try to steal money. Postmasters are no different from other human beings. So, some will or might think, ‘Hé, this is easy’. The main bods in the Post Office have all these experts available to them and psychologically look at everyone. But no, not needed, we will just pursue everyone regardless. Let’s not bother to look at the problem.

Then on another matter, we have the ongoing troubles in the Ukraine and the Gaza/Israel conflict. Surely, politicians such as Biden, and Cameron in the UK are seen to be totally floundering, thrashing around to public opinion. Biden comes out with beautiful words like ‘Gaza must be free’, ‘Israel is preventing helping the Gazeans’. Plus here we have the shining example of a previous PM, now Foreign Secretary, saying much the same things because he cannot think of anything original to say, travelling to the US and laying prostrate on the carpet looking for someone to stroke his shiny head and telling him he is a good boy. Hoping for some tidbits at the same time. Yep, that’s politics nowadays. The problem according to me and quite a number of other people is that politicians are overtly concerned what the public thinks of them. As soon as some Twitter of TikTok idiot starts bellowing politicians jump to the fore and deny everything, squirming around to show it wasn’t them who killed the goose! Just look at politics in the UK. Angela Rayner, the deputy Labour party leader has been flagged as a possible tax dodger. Interesting, because she, in the past, has not been slow to point the finger at the opposition chappies about tax dodging. The problem with this is it stops work on important decisions needed to be made such as should we build more aircraft carriers or allow a million homes to be raised on the Balmoral Estate or even to decide whether the idea of reducing the armed forces to the level of those in San Marino is attainable within one year. So, we will now have a two year enquiry whether poor Angela defrauded the tax man. Everything else will be held back. Let’s get back to sleep, please!
