New Year's Observations - Oh dear, what next!
If you you want to know how far this country has sunk, look no further than our ‘national’ broadcaster, the BBC. It seems the BBC is driving the woke attitudes now promulgated as ‘The way to live’, and to heck with everything else. I was reading an article in one of our national newspapers the ‘Sun’ about one of the Welsh shows called ‘Gavin and Stacey’. Where apparently people from the BBC were complaining about it being too white! Well, excuse me what is the name of this country and in which part of the world is it situated? Are we perhaps part of the African continent? The show is about Welsh people and their ups and downs, not about pushing same sex marriage, homosexual relationships, or transgender issues, all of which are pushed hard by the BBC. Any BBC show now must show mixed marriages, one or two gays, even someone in a wheelchair. To be fair, obviously these things exist, but if we are changing Queen Victoria into a black person I think you are just making a fool of yourself. This is the question now, has the BBC gone too far? Too unrealistic? What is the rationale they work under? Who decides these policies? I am paying £160+ as a pensioner for a licence which gives me access to a service I do not agree with! If I rescind the licence by not paying the monthly cost any more and want to see the ‘News’ I will or may end up, in the Courts. This goes against fair trade because all of us should have a choice. I like nature programmes which are mostly on the BBC and these would be unavailable without a licence. Is it time to ditch this unfair ‘tax’ that does not serve any useful purpose? And change it to a paid for system? Such as Netflix and if you would get fed up with it, just cancel and go somewhere else?
The other thing bothering me is the political situation – we used to be a great country. One could argue that we did not rule those parts we ‘conquered’ all that well but at least we provided security and a way of life that lots of those countries are still following. No, I am more worried about the quality and way we are now governed, nationally and locally. Reading about the cost of expense claims by some. Ms Reeves apparently although owning properties which are rented out, claimed nearly half a million quid over a period of time. It is really unbelievable how our MPs are so greedy! They are literally standing in a queue in front of the pay office with the most incredible expense claims. Now wonder out taxes go up and up. It seems to have been forgotten as to who really pays for it all. Me! And those like me. Taxpayers! It is certainly time to have a very hard look at to what is happening. The system has gone off the rails and needs putting back as fast as possible.
