Compassion with tax payers?

We should have compassion with tax payers in this country. On the news this morning we are told that it is very likely that Council Tax might go up by up to 10% next April. Wow, so for a middle range stone built house in the valleys of Wales which at the moment is about £180 per month, would go up to nearly £200 per month! You must excuse me, but what are we, the general public, actually getting for that money? Besides all the other taxes we must pay, 20% PAYE, some 10% NI, the BBC charge which is basically a tax and that is also going up and would be about £160 per year. The vehicle tax plus associated costs like insurance. The list is endless. You may ask where it is all going but when you see and hear about all the charlatans who are stuffing themselves with our money, you begin to see the problem. Just look at local councils, the ‘top’ people can earn anything from £100,000 to £200,000 per annum basically for doing less than the average 80 year old pensioner walking around on crutches. I heard it said once that the Rhondda Cynon Taf council was the largest employer in Wales. Whether that is true I leave for others to decide but looking as a citizen living within that blighted area I can well believe it. I say blighted because damn little is done to improve the surroundings. Planning is an absolute muddle and from rumours in the past seems to have been beset by criminal behaviour. I have heard words spoken like ‘Brown Envelope Charlies’. Now, that might be fanciful talk, who would believe councillors could be guilty of criminal behaviour? Well, in my view any human could be, bearing in mind the huge sums we now have to pay in taxation, any human could look with a side glance at the ubiquitous brown stuffed envelopes! And that includes me, probably but I have not been tested! Just a problem in councils then? Probably not, there are lobbying activities in all governmental circles, including Parliaments like Westminster and Cardiff Bay. Well, OK one day people may take this as a serious issue needing looking at.

In the meantime we need to look at how our money is spent! Perhaps, overstaffing? Well, there are as I already indicated, an enormous number of Civil Servants and increasing! There are now more people looking at us ‘normal’ shivering tax-payers and using covert methods like CCTV. It is reported that anyone walking along the UK streets will be photographed, filmed at least 10 times daily. I suspect that figure is on the low side. So, basically those that lead us or rather think they do, fleece us whilst smiling benignly. All to keep up the pretense we are a successful western orientated economic powerhouse. The truth is we are nothing of the sort. We asked ‘Where is our money going, where is it spent’? When politicians asked that question, you hear the standard report, the NHS, Care for OAPs and such. You never hear about updating the infrastructure unless they talk about power, electricity and gas. It is all ‘believe’ stuff. They believe it works. If something does not, they do not own up, only throw more money after bad. As was said, politicians could not even organise a p*ss-up in a brewery. I think that alone will tell you why council tax is going up. It is why people like Boris, Rishi and a host of others do think they can solve all the problems and then they meet the ‘BLOB’. Now, I better stop before I lose my composure. The BLOB is the unmovable human part of government in all its aspects. You won’t see them on TV or hear them but you will know them because they just sent you your tax demand!
