Change? Let's hope but hold your breath...
As I mentioned before, No change, politicians are still lying. Remember Labour proudly boasting, there will be no tax rises, no nasty surprises? Guess what, as I suspected this so-called £22billion black hole is something Reeves dreamt up after a row with her husband. Or he didn’t make her breakfast with the customary bacon and egg. A total fallacy. Most of that dreamt-up black hole is actually the money Labour wants to spend on their ideas. So it is basically the amount they will be borrowing and blaming the Conservatives for it. They even probably are congratulating themselves for having this ‘brilliant’ idea. If anyone wants to know what shallowness in politics looks like, come to the UK. Frankly the political system in the UK is far beyond its usefulness. Democracy only works well with people of integrity. Lying is not governing, it is just hiding mistakes, or portraying fiction, a fantasy or illusion. The Labour top and spearheaded by Ms Reeves are already living in cloud cuckoo land. We may well ask what it will be like in 4 years time. Labour overall has never had a good input or even output on economical issues. They have always left a legacy of bad management. Unfortunately the last Conservative government tried to emulate that.
But we should ask as careful citizens – Why? Why do we have to have these sorts of situations? Ordinary folk just want to get on with life. It is hard enough without all these problems brought on by these charlatans. Do the elites we are saddled with actually understand that? Most of us ‘normal’ people understand well enough the need for some social care. There will always be the poor and downtrodden. Either through their own volition or through some unfortunate happening. Some help under those circumstances is a must. But there need to be safeguards in order to safeguard against misuse. But first and foremost we all of us need to understand the need to take care for ourselves properly. Perhaps our pension schemes, government and private need to be compulsory. Similarly health care. All working people appear to pay NI (National Insurance) to pay for the health services in the UK but in reality it is just a tax and not really used to pay for the NHS (National Health Service).
We need to have a look at across the water to see how other systems work. As I have mentioned before, the Netherlands operate a compulsory three tier system but with some leeway for social help. In other words I am aware there is no system that can cover all eventualities. The British NHS medical staffs work well for the most part but it has difficulties coping with situations like we experienced. Covid and also the population increase. One of its biggest problems as I see it, is the enormous administration. The paperwork alone eats up millions of pounds. Management has grown enormous. Tales of multimillion pound bonuses for the top do not seem quite appropriate. Certainly not when looking at its performance. Well, we have to see how it will all turn out. Maybe we will improve, maybe it will just get worse.
Ed: You see the word 'dreamt', it is the British past tense form of the verb 'to dream'.
