Rules galore but results? Eh...

So, we think of the Labour party being for people? Yes, I heard the thunder as well. But let that rest for now. I believe the bill will be pushed through their door soon enough. I want to really highlight the way governments act today. Not just the main government but also the Welsh one and also the Scottish and Northern Irish, although these last two I have little notion of. It is about making decisions that have a big impact on citizens generally. Like in Wales the decision to impose a 20mph rule in built-up areas. There was no democratic vote. The Westminster government to impose a £40 billion tax grab, no vote. I suppose they thought their general election victory gave them that power. Perhaps we ought to start asking what sort of system we actually live under? There was no vote about what is called ‘Net-zero’ and its affiliated decisions like plastering the countryside with obnoxious wind turbines. Coupled with the east-coast possible overhead power lines bringing electricity from the seaborne wind turbine fields to land. It is all just done by implying it is good for us.

Locally there is a bit of a building boom going on. Despite local objections it just carries on. It is said these homes, flats mostly, are for the older people. In fact the reality is they will be mostly occupied by the kind of people that have lost their mojo. Or simply just immigrants. Drug taking, criminal activity and more. The Council just shrugs its shoulder. It is no wonder they do not want to put that to a vote. They will already be well aware of the result. Despite calling our system democratic, in reality it is an ‘Electocracy’, the system where an elected government does not share its power. Some would even say, amongst whom myself, we have a ‘Kakistocracy’, a system where a government is run by the least qualified or even unscrupulous persons. I obtained these interesting describing words from ‘Wikipedia’. Nevertheless they describe the situation as highlighted here. We used to have an aristocracy, run by the Kings and Queens of the land. Perhaps it was a mistake to ditch it. It could be said that any form of government has or gets its problems but today in the UK governments just decide, mouthing incoherently ‘How good it is for the people and how well they are looked after’. Well, I have news for them, it is not and they don’t’. The whole edifice of government has become elitist, as a result people generally have become sort of ‘Devil may care’ type. Shown in the careless attitude to our environment and social structure. Visible by the preponderance of so-called experts that will tell how we should live and act. How to educate, how to decide which gender you will be or want to be and much more . Promoted by the tentacles of government. In Wales we suddenly have to face our children up to what is called the ‘Welsh Baccalaureate’. Promoted by someone or ones who suddenly felt that Wales was something else, and different. That our children also could work in England nobody bothered about. The Welsh Bacc is not recognised anywhere else, it is basically just something hanging together in hope it will aid finding a job. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t.

I personally feel that governments have begun to think they know it all. They know what is good for everybody and impose rules and regulations accordingly. And do so without recourse to the people or even check on progress of the imposed rules. The aforementioned 20mph rule in Wales is a case in point. The idea of one wet behind the ear Senedd member. Pushed through by saying ‘It will save hundreds or thousands of lives’. Well, it will save some lives that is not really in question. But it will be offset by an increased level of air pollution as slow running engines are very inefficient coupled with more queues. It shows government did not think it through.
