Gaza holiday? Where to book....

Watching TV and especially from the news channels one would think Gaza is now a done deal, holidays here we come! The BBC, the woke channel from the UK is showing people and reporters continually highlighting the need for this and that. Yes, it is extremely sad to see the suffering. But can I ask one question? Who started all of this? Obviously before the October 7 rampage the situation had been festering nicely for some time. To be fair the UK should look at how it performs on the world stage. The politics of the western sphere should be looked at since it is wanting. We see the grandstanding of the Americans. We hear lovely words such as ‘The war is over, I made peace’, all without any shred of evidence or even hard facts! So, what is very likely happening soon, the POTUS will return to his gold plated toilet seat in the not so White House and will forget about the whole thing. Starmer will still look like a prat and think he did a wonderful job. All he did was shake Trump’s hand and looked even more like Captain Darling in ‘Blackadder’. Something like ‘Give me your take on how the battle is going, Darling’, ‘Not bad General, the Battle of Hastings has not yet started, Churchill is still having his breakfast’. I feel somewhat sorry for Starmer, he is way out of his comfort zone and should have stayed where he was, an second-rate barrister. This was quite evident during that photoshoot in Sharm-El-Sheikh. If he believes that Britain plays or played a role I think he needs an appointment with his shrink. It is true Britain played a role but that was in 1947/48 when we f*cked up the whole area.

In the meantime Darling you will remember that Hamas is still around and you are talking about making Gaza a Mediterranean holiday spot? Oh Lord, please save us from these idiots we are saddled with? Thinking about it, why did we vote for all this idiocy? You tell me what choice did we have? We voted one load of idiots out and voted in an even worse load of idiots. It surely must be saying something to the world? No wonder we are seeing situations like Gaza. Why don’t the worthwhile and good MPs, Senators, House of Reps and all the other governmental structures not open their mouths wider? Why don’t we hear these? Or are we voting in sheep? Perhaps we like all this crap? Society across the western world is breaking down. Anyone recalling history will remember Rome and what happened to the Roman Empire? Actually, what happened to most empires? Anyone betting on the present empires? Perhaps we don’t really like democracy? Dumbing down, reading newspapers like the Sun in the UK, overuse of mobile phones. We are now more interested in finding out whether women have penises. Oh Lord, what next. This lot will give us WW3, some say perhaps we deserve it.

Do we really understand our adversaries?

Having read one of the Telegraph’s articles, the ones that are sent called Top Stories on mobiles, named ‘Putin will soon turn his war machine on Britain’ , I wasn’t sure whether to start packing my belongings or laugh uproariously. It was attributed to Ben Wallace , a former Secretary for Defence, so it must be taken seriously. Looking at the article at first one can easily dismiss it as a bit of fanciful drivel, much like loads of other ‘ Telling you what is going to happen’ stuff. Obviously most does not, will not happen or are just fancy personal emanations of deep-seated fear of the unknown. Whatever, I wouldn’t think someone like Sir Ben would succumb to such fear. So, I read the article again and picked up the psychological slant on meetings with people who have had little discourse or meetings with opponents in foreign climes. A nice trip, safety? Good question....

Bit of a surprise for the lady of the house and me. Our daughter treated us to a ticket for a trip on the ‘Waverley’. The Waverley is a paddle-steamer built in 1947 and reputedly the only one left in the world. Well, at least in the UK! The ship would leave the pier at Penarth (the small town next to Cardiff) for the trip to Ilfracombe, the small town in North Devon, England. It is about 70 odd miles I think and the trip lasts for about just 2 hours plus. The weather at the moment here is governed by a high pressure system, meaning calmer seas. Yet due to a stiff breeze there were visible the well-known ‘white horses’. For foreigners that means asking the age-old question – ‘White horses’? Are there horses on the water? No, friends it just means white capped waves. It made the ship sway ever so little but noticeable looking at the stumbling people around the decks. One very serious question needs asking though, a ship like the ‘Waverley’ which is not enormous like today’s ocean-liners...
