Independence? Why not...

Perhaps it is high time to figure out whether Wales should be independent. To be fair being a member of the United Kingdom has not been too brilliant for the Principality. Having been mostly used as a ‘Get-Rich-Quick’ area for predominantly English investors. That however is not to say Wales can afford to be independent. At least not without vast tax rises. Although it might have to establish a harsh social security system. In other words, it would have to be very difficult to obtain the sort of benefits as we see today. You either work or employed by the council at the minimum wage. The age of freebies would be over. I am afraid it sound very right wing but surely is there an alternative? The UK today is in hock for trillions, it has no change to pay it back, not in my lifetime or mine to come great-grandchildren.

Even today £2.5 trillion national debt means that each and everyone of us is owing in real terms. No wonder the present government (if you can call it that) has no option but to increase taxes yet again and I am certain, with more to come in 2026. The fun bit is the chatter as to why it has to be, but no words about curtailing the overbearing and grossly overstaffed public services. We might call Mr Reform Party Farage for whatever misdemeanor we can think of but to be very honest, can we find anything wrong with what they say? As I have personally said before, our present government and a few before it, are criminally responsible for the mismanagement of the public finances. Criminally responsible for quite openly having abrogated the work they were elected for. Abrogating laws, agreements, customs or simply avoiding something they should do.

Perhaps ask our fully fledged human rights lawyer what it means and how he sees his responsibilities. The same goes for our judiciary system and judges, even the police as it is today. Certainly, we have heard all the excuses but the reality is plain to see, authority has abrogated its responsibilities. Instead we have had to cope with badly formed woke platitudes which has meant we had to decide whether women have penises, moreover encourage young people to decide whether they should change gender.

People talk a lot about Gaza. The government decided to recognise a Palestinian state. They did that without researching all the facts. Again it is basically virtue signalling – look how good we are, we care. No-one knows if something like a Palestinian state is actually viable. Meaning if it was established it would almost certainly be dependent on foreign money, and lots of it. On top of that the West Bank would most probably not be part of it or perhaps just in a sort of federation. As you can see plenty of problems and we haven’t even mentioned Ukraine. Will someone tell Blair the facts, please?
