Are we good at learning lessons? Hmmm...

Do people, humans, ever learn their lessons? Such as something nasty happens, we deal with it and problem’s gone away. Or has it? In most cases the immediate problem seems to have been solved but the underlying causes are still present. Take the Thirties, the poverty and also the American excesses of Wall Street and it’s collapse. Did we learn anything? Looking at the incredible debt levels of most western countries, one would seriously doubt we have learned anything. Take the Gaza problem, was it avoidable? Possibly not as population growth and limited space reminds me of that rat experiment I have mentioned before a few times. Where initially plenty of space and food culminated in explosive population growth, just as in Gaza. Then the rats started on each other, world war 10. In Gaza Hamas did not turn on to themselves but on the nearest population. But did we learn anything from the causes, the reasons of why these things happen time and time again? The Gaza problem might lessen now since the Peacemaker Ordinaire Trump had decreed he personally intervened because he needed another golf course on a piece of desert. Plus one or two of his hotels. All fine but will it solve the issue of Hamas and their aims? The answer has not been given yet as Starmer hasn’t got much of a clue about world politics. He barely knows anything about local politics.

However we look at it, the Gaza problem has been tucked in it seems, at least for now. Let’s hope the tucked in problem stays asleep. All in people tend to have very short memories. I suppose that will not change anytime soon. Gaza will be rebuilt but the hate remains. Some idiot will stand up and start pontificating about how badly they all have been treated. Money will come from somewhere, weapons will be acquired and the whole shebang will begin again. Did Russia learn anything from the last world war, no? Well, where I am sitting no-one has learned anything from any war. Humanity’s lust for power and money wins every time. I know it is a damning exclamation on how we have dealt with the only place in the solar system that can sustain us. But if we are not careful it will become the place akin to hell. Perhaps it is the way all life goes. We start, we breed, we run out of space and food, we go extinct. Nice? It seems to be a natural cause and effect situation. Yet another case, Labour’s efforts when in power, to harness the national money coffers. In other words, the Economy. It seems to completely escape them that these things have happened before and the various reasons for it happening plus solutions and bad decisions, are all in the public domain. So, what we end up with is a recurring government when one side ruins the economy and the other repairs it, ad infinitum. As a result one or two, generations are lost. It is probably too simple but the basic reasons are there. Will someone enlighten Boss Starmer when back from his weekly jaunts to kiss Trump’s backside?
