Services, services, services, what ARE we talking about!

Yep, the floodgates have not closed yet it appears. Does that surprise anyone nowadays? Many times it has been said this country is ungovernable, thanks to very bad management, money problems because no-one knows anything about budgeting or keeping proper records. Just to name a few things. So, now we hear yet again how things can turn ape, so to say. Thames Water is in the doldrums. By Jove, this is a virtual monopoly and they managed a debt of some proportions? £14billion and rising like floodwaters? What happened to those who were supposed to check? OfWat? The various government offices? Was everyone sleeping? Or partying? What in all honesty is going on? We are just milch cows it seems. Yet big dividends are paid out. Surely as the only income of the water companies is the payments made by its customers i.e all of the UK population it is an absolute disgrace to understand that dividends have been paid. Plus of course the massive increases in pay and bonuses. It is galling to hear the increases over the few years that now amount generally to well over £500 per annum. It is incredible the various governments have been thinking about these systems. On its own there is nothing wrong with private companies providing services. It means competition and the drive to be better than everyone else in the same field. Customers have a choice. But not in the UK, for some reason water companies are the sole company within their area. Welsh Water covers most of Wales, The Thames Water area covers a central area from London, towards the west encompassing Oxford. Customers have no choice and as such pay exorbitant prices for what can only be called a mediocre service. Plus a failure to deal with leaks and sewage. Yet, there has not been a word from the national overseeing body OfWat nor any words from the national government. Incredible, these are the people we have entrusted with the care of our well-being as citizens.

It sure has been and continues to be an utter failure. In all honesty I wonder at Keir’s insistence he is going to form a government. If I was him I wouldn’t bother because like the previous Labour administration said, the cash box is virtually empty and the problems left are so huge we would need Putin to throw a few people out of a window. Those who are guilty of having put us all in this position. It is a bit over the top I suppose, I’d rather would hold these people to account for total mismanagement and waste of resources plus failure to carry out the tasks for which they were employed. Jail terms of up to 15-20 years would be appropriate in my opinion.

Frankly and talking about mismanagement there are more areas of concern. The Health service, commonly known as the NHS. The GP service has virtually collapsed and the dentists are falling over themselves to not renew their contracts. Waiting times are so long that the NHS ought to start a Undertaker service as well. The Rail service in this country is basically a laugh. Antiquated equipment still trying to reach 125 miles per hour which as far as I know was only ever reached in the middle of the night with an empty train and no wind. That is and only if there were no strikes. It is a sorry state. One wonders how long it can continue before most of us are destitute and can only look at the fat-cats who squandered the resources and made a joke of us all.
