Go home? But why?

Dos adre, Sais! These will be the words spoken in certain places in Wales – Go Home English! The point here is, as it is today in places within Spain, Italy and a lot of other tourism hot-spots, that unbridled tourism is detrimental to the local way of life, their chances of finding a place to live, their economy as prices rise far higher than what could be considered normal. In Wales there are seaside places where in winter you will only find dead cats. Why? There is nobody to feed them. Well, it might be a bit of an exaggeration but the point is still the same. Tourism, overdone tourism kills. It kills normal living. It ensures local young people move away. Just look at some of the shenanigans going on in the Mediterranean hot-spots. When thousands of British idiots, yes including young Welsh idiots, descend just to make a nuisance of themselves. Drinking alcohol to excess, sex in public, raucous noise they call music, urinating and defecating on the streets. These are the calling cards the Brits spread across the world. A good question would be, how can people that do not work or are on our generous benefits system get to the Mediterranean hot-spots? They have no intention to look at nature or visit any of the natural beauty. All they want is alcohol and sex, preferably on a beach. Day or night, it doesn’t matter and nor do they care who sees it. First of all I would enquire about the mental capacity of the girls, it is most likely pretty low on the scale. The chaps I would not even employ in business. And frankly it isn’t only youngsters below 25 either. One may justly ask – what’s the matter with Brits?

Most of the Balearics now say, justifiably - ’Quédate en casa, Inglés’. The capital of the Netherlands now actively wants to prohibit young British tourists, good ones and bad ones. Exactly for the same reason. As they say, if you want to smoke pot, do it in your own backyard. On top of that Amsterdam wants to ban cruise ships. Why? Well, one reason one member of my family gave, Why the h*ll do I have to pay twelve euros for an icecream? The answer from the icecream van said it all – tourists pay, no problem. So, you can see here the impact of the wrong type of tourism and what it does to the price levels. It might not be important to us at the time but it does rankle.

It might be argued that the slack control by local government is at fault and you could be correct. One hotel gets built and very soon more will follow as precedents have been set. Just look at the promenade in Torremolinos. Not that long ago there was maybe just one hotel. Nobody wanted to go to Franco’s Spain. Obviously it can be said that us poor sun-starved Brits need the sun desperately. Indeed we do, but at least we can respect the locals and the local places. More self-control individually and a better understanding by local planners, both here and abroad, would be helping. Let’s hope we can continue seeking the sun and not look at protest meetings bearing placards! Quédate en casa, Inglés. Dos adre Sais!
