Anyone for the job of Defence Secretary. There is no queue...
The fact that the UK is basically not an island any more seems to have escaped the worthwhile MP’s and in fact the whole government. Yes, I can see the sea around us as well. But drones do not! The problem is a simple one, today’s wars are fought more and more by robots. Drones today, walking robots, or just moving robots, tomorrow. On top of that the speed at which they go and are developed ensures we must think about defence right now! When you look around to see what can be a problem such as Ukraine experiences with drones carrying explosives, the power infrastructure is being destroyed piece by piece. In the UK the power structure is above ground for everyone to see. One cannot miss the straggling power lines marching all over the country. The power stations that generate the electricity are even signposted on the atlases. Just type for the Google maps on your mobile. Just type Hinkley and it pops up with a nice picture and a small map to show Putin where it is located. Even the coordinates are there. You wouldn’t believe it? You better do! Mind you even the overflying Russian planes might find it easily. It is just the same for all the others. Drax? Welcome! And so on. The point of all this I mention is, are we too lax in our own basic security? Does the government even care? Remember what a government is actually for – to keep its people safe as far as possible. Obviously, that is not happening. As a commentator has said and I quote: “The Cabinet is too preoccupied to find ways of taxation to give away more benefits”. In other words they seem to think that this will ensure they will be ‘liked’ and will be re-elected for ever. History tells us that doesn’t necessarily happen. So, the needed money for ensuring a good level of security is not forthcoming. It will all go to further unemployment. But that’s another problem.
The fun news today is even the Labour Defence Secretary Healy has now thrown his hat up in the air and walked out. Anyone for the job? It doesn’t really matter who takes it, Starmer won’t take your advice anyway. That HR advocate Still doesn’t believe how gullible we all were electing the woke bandwagon into power. It shows though how bad we have become by taking in the weasel words prior to the last General Election. Call the US administration a lot of shysters but they have figured out the UK is no longer worthy to be called a partner. Now that might not worry us too much viewing the standards of verbiage coming from there but that won’t last for much longer. In the meantime we have more or less buried our standing in the world. A non-entity, no army, no working navy and a piecemeal airforce. How the Cabinet people sleep is beyond me. Just wondering what the best president in the world by far (and he was a comedian!) Zelenskiy is thinking when he comes to London. I know, he just comes for the weapons we still can make, smiles and says Thank-You and goes away laughing. Of course, he is used to jokers. Like Starmer and Co. Just wondering what he says to his people when back in Kiev.
